Oliver Orc-A

Orca2_b

Product Description

black /gold cosmetic.

The interaction between the ball and the racket causes an impulse from the ball to the racket. This contact causes vibrations of various frequencies depending on the speed, the point of contact and the angle of contact. In order to counteract these vibrations varying frame stiffness are required. A corrugated frame can, in contrast to a straight frame, absorb a wider range of frequencies thus absorbing the vibrations more efficiently and not passing them on to the players arm. This results in a better control for good players and takes the strain from the arm.

  Orca Review

Orca Review; First It always good to get a bit of background on the reviewer so I am a high end intermediate to low end …. Usually in top three rungs of club ladder and play a lot of tournaments as well as rec. (so decent but not a top dog). I have used Dunlop (Ice, Aerogel and 4 D) pretty much all of them, Technifibre Caroflex all iterations, Prince Sovereign, Back speed port, Wilson tour and 120 etc etc. Yes I would be that guy searching for the perfect racket, not necessarily to improve my game but for fit and feel. I have found it, Hands down the Oliver Orca is the best all round racket I have ever used. Probably the best touch and feel racket bar none I have tried. When Larry (truly the Squash guru) recommended I give it a hit I was like “Oliver?? Never heard of them” and thinking it was a small company I was not going to be impressed with. Did a little research turns out they started in Australia dedicated to only squash rackets and were bought and moved to Germany. They are big in Europe especially eastern Europe. OK so out of the gate I played a 4 day tournament with the racket stock. Wow touch, feel and control are simply awesome, rack weight was really light and threw me a bit in the beginning but I adjusted very naturally to it. Factory strings were the best factory strings (save technifibre) but after 4 weeks simply go from good to flat in a heartbeat. Did very well in tournament, after Larry suggested I add a little lead tape at the even point to give it a more familiar weight and power boost. No doubt it gave it a bit more power but lost a bit of maneuverability I had found in the tournament. While more like my previous rackets I craved that aggressive maneuverability and shot making , so I took the lead tape off and have adjusted perfectly. This is a shot maker’s racket and really has indeed helped my game. Usually light rackets have great placement for me but require me to whip so fast through the hit zone to generate power that my shoulder becomes sore and really I don’t like. This little beast has some great and easy power generation that for the weight I have never seen before. It is not a cannon though, but far more power than a Harrow Spark or Harrow Vibe custom, Dunlop Elite or custom and many more. OK quick points; Build quality; Excellent (one of top two out of all rackets so far). Power; 8 ( less than say the Prince Speedport Black that has power on tap but the best ever from a light racket). Touch; 10 Control; 10 Feel; 10+ Maneuverability; 10 Flex; very nice not too stiff great balance of flex and power with zero and I mean zero vibration Honestly you cannot go wrong with this one, though the weight does take adjustment , though this is off set by the power it produces which then does not requiring you to change your swing speed.
